CEO of TikTok made the announcement to staff via a letter which said, “It is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the company.”
The Trump administration has already given the 45 days deadline to halt any business transaction with the Chinese company Byte Dance, which is the parent company of Tik Tok.
There is a total of 175 million downloads in the US and a billion times around the globe. TikTok has argued that the Trump government is absurd for calling the social media platform “an unusual and extraordinary threat.”
“Against this backdrop, and as we expect to reach a resolution very soon, it is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the company,” Mayer, the former CEO of TikTok wrote.
“I understand that the role that I signed up for — including running TikTok globally — will look very different as a result of the US administration’s action to push for a sell-off of the US business.”
