The First Lady recently visited philanthropist Tehmina Durrani at a private hospital where she was admitted due to high blood pressure. The doctors reported that she is on her way to recovery.

First Lady Pays a Visit to Philanthropist Bilquise Bano Edhi at a Private Hospital

Bilquise Bano Edhi, wife of late Pakistani humanitarian and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was admitted to a private hospital based on blood pressure problems. As per doctors, Bilquise is under treatment and is getting well.

On Wednesday, the first lady, Tehmina Durrani visited her in the hospital and inquired about her health. A day earlier, when the newly elected prime minister Shahbaz Sharif went to Karachi to pay a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam everyone was wondering why the first lady did not accompany him. After sharing a picture with Bilquis Edhi she received respect and kind remarks from netizens.

The First Lady wrote on Twitter, “Today Bilquise and I wept a river in her hospital room. She cried for Edhi Sab and I cried for her. She is so unwell! And when she called me the First Lady I squirmed. Indeed, NO 1st lady can match up to the greatness of ‘Edhi’s Bilquise’”.

Bilquise has sacrificed her whole life to serve the Edhi Foundation where she works as a professional nurse and heads the team. She gave six decades of her life to humanitarian work and her organization saved the lives of 42,000 unwanted babies.

She has been called ‘The Mother of Pakistan’ and received multiple national and foreign awards including ‘Person of the Decade’, ‘Hilal-e-Imtiaz’, Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice, the Lenin Peace Prize, and the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, which she received in 1986 along with her husband.

Bilquise Edhi is a great Philanthropist who has earned massive respect in Pakistan and also outside the country. She along with her late husband saved thousands of lives and ensured that every homeless was provided with a shelter. After her husband’s death, she continued his legacy of serving the people and contributing to society.
