Is Coronavirus a serious threat to Pakistan?

So far, no case of the virus has been reported in Pakistan but Coronavirus is still a serious threat to Pakistan since the transmission is to all the part have been witnessed through air travel. More so, China has road travel as well.

CPEC is also one of the reasons raising risks of the outbreak of the virus. Thousands of Pakistani students are stuck in China at the risk of Coronavirus. Four Pakistani students have already been diagnosed with the disease.

There is a need for Standard Isolation Units and Bio-Safety Level-III labs all over the country or at least a few in all the provinces. Epidemiologist Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Durrani has expressed his concerns on taking the right measure at the time since it has already taken 125 lives in China till Yesterday.

He also requested the healthcare providers who were at a greater risk of catching the virus to take bio-safety measures and barrier nursing techniques.

More so, he also said that public awareness campaigns need to be created. There is also a need for special exit and entry points for the suspected patients and establish separate OPD.

Information and precautionary measures should be displayed in public places such as bus stops. The media is responsible for helping out people who catch the disease.  The top three precautions heavily advertised are washing hands, avoid crowded places and use face masks.
