After 3 weeks of reporting no new cases, the New Zealand which was once known to be coronavirus free zone, has reported 2 cases.
Both of the patients just arrived from the United Kingdom as revealed by the health ministry.
The ministry can confirm today two new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand related to the border as a result of recent travel from the UK. Both cases are connected,” the health ministry said.
Previously, the borders of the country had been opened for those going back to Kiwi.
The Pacific nation which had only reported 22 deaths so far said that they have eliminated all those cases which could increase the transfer.
Everyone who is traveling has to go through mandatory quarantine.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has already made it clear that the country is not virus free. She said, ” New Zealand will have cases again in the future”.
“Of course, our hope and expectation is that should be at the border… if they’ve quarantined, of course, that’s a very different story than in the community,” she further added, “it’s an ongoing campaign”.
