International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is celebrated on November 25. Therefore, November holds its significance especially for those working on the issue of fighting violence against women and girls. This day is a UN-designated day which highlights the issue of violence involving women. The day is now a global extension that is celebrated all around the world which incorporates 16 Days of Activism and the UNiTE campaigns.
Orange The World: Generation Stands Against Rape
This year, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women has a theme that revolves around the issue of rape. The campaign “Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape” as a form of explicit harm. United Nations this year is stressing on the prevention and putting this vicious action to an end. The campaign will start from November 25 counting till December 10.
Orange The World: Generation Stands Against Rape in Pakistan
The government of Pakistan is also participating in this campaign. The President of Pakistan held an event highlighted the fact that there is the law regarding the issue of violence. However, the law has not been practiced the way it should be, he added.
Alaudin Khilji, the Director of Aurat Foundation has announced they are partnering with UN-women and the Department of Women Development Balochistan has arranged various programs for 16 days in order to combat violence against women. The campaign will begin today with a well-organized ceremony at the Balochistan Support Program (BRSP).
