Outdoor Restriction Of Wearing Facemask Lifting In Italy From June 28
The facemasks wearing restriction imposed by all worst-hit coronavirus countries is being lifted in Italy (one of the European countries badly hit by the pandemic) from June 28, stated by the health ministry on Monday.
This policy would be implemented in regions labeled "white" according to Italy´s classification system for how rapidly the virus is spreading, written on Facebook by Health Minister Roberto Speranza.
This applies to all Italian regions except the tiny Aosta Valley in the far northwest.
Speranza´s announced on the advice from Italy´s Comitato Tecnico Scientifico (CTS) scientific advisory panel, as per which people should still have to wear masks for events with a higher risk of spreading the virus such as large gatherings.
By June 28, according to the prediction of the experts, all of Italy will be classified a "white" zone, as only 21 deaths and 495 new cases reported nationwide on Monday.
A total of 127,291 deaths have been reported by the country since the pandemic reached it in early 2020, with 4.25 million coronavirus cases.
Till now, 30 percent of people over the age of 12 have been vaccinated, or about 16 million out of a population of 60 million. In Italy, more than 46 million vaccine doses have been administered.
