PM announces 170,000 scholarships  for skill-based education

Prime Minister Imran Khan announced 170,000 skill-based scholarships for young people on Tuesday morning.

In a recorded video message, he stated that young people mostly want government or salaried job. "So how many people can be hired by the government?"

The PM stated that the government is starting a better programme for young people so that they can initiate their businesses as well as entrepreneurial projects.

The programme comprises of two parts, skills-based education and loans for businesses.

We want more and more people to get skills-based education and 170,000 scholarships will be offered for that purpose. Out of these, 50,000 scholarships will be provided for upscale skills like coding and artificial intelligence. "You can do six-month courses of the skills and then get jobs which you didn't even imagine was possible for you."

In Addition, young people will be given loans if they have a business idea under the ‘Kamyab Jawan programme'. The government has allocated Rs100 billion for this loan scheme and these finances will be provided based on merit. "We eventually want to expand the scheme so that we can reach more young people and create employment opportunities for them."
