PM Appoints Ex-DG ISPR Gen(R) Asim Saleem Bajwa as Special Assistant to PM for Information

Former DG ISPR Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa Joins office as Special Assistant to PM on Information replacing Firdous Ashiq Awan. However, PTI leader Shibli Faraz is appointed as Federal Information Minister.

Reportedly, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday de-notified Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan as his special assistant on information and broadcasting. However, the reason for changes to the information ministry is still unclear.

After the decision, Dr. Awan says that she gave her 100% to fulfill all the responsibilities given to her.

“I’m thankful to the prime minister for trusting me. The prime minister has the right to decide which player of the team should play on what batting order or which field position. I respect the prime minister’s decision.”

Noticeably, Dr. Firdous joined the office as a special assistant to the prime minister on information and broadcasting in April 2019 replacing Fawad Chaudhry, who is currently the minister for science and technology.

Furthermore, now SAPMon Information Gen (r) Bajwa had served as Commander Southern Command before his retirement. He remained director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations from 2012 to 2016. Moreover, Bajwa was appointed as the chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPECA), which comes under the planning and development ministry.

Meanwhile, Shibli Faraz had served as chairman of the Senate’s standing committee on commerce.  Shibli is also a member of committees responsible for planning and development, water, and climate change.

More so, science and technology minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to congratulate the two and wish them luck for their respective roles.
