Saudi Arabia Allows to offer 10-rakat Taraweeh prayers in Masjid al-Haram, Masjid-e-Nabwi

Amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has suspended Umrah and banned any activity in Holy Mosques. However, reportedly, Taraweeh prayers have cut short into 10 Rakats in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid a Nabawi.

President General of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais confirms the offering of 10 Rakats of Taraweeh Prayer. However, no public gathering other than staff members will be allowed.

The statement also said that i’tikaf, the Islamic practice of secluding oneself in the mosque to pray, has been canceled at both mosques.

Furthermore, the statement reads that Umrah suspension would still prevail until further notice.
