The public in Lahore forced to stand in sun for not wearing masks
The Lahore administration has begun taking measures against residents not wearing masks in public.
The police have registered more than 400 cases against people for violating the coronavirus SOPs.
On Tuesday, 11 people were apprehended on Jallo Mor and Walton Road for not wearing masks. Some men were even enforced to stand in the sun as a punishment for more than half an hour.
Minimum 188 cases have been registered against the residents of Lahore in two days for not wearing masks. The City Division police registered the most cases, following by Iqbal Town police and Saddar Division police.
Dr. Faisal Sultan, the special assistant to PM on health, has demanded the public to take the third COVID-19 wave seriously. As he was speaking to the media in Islamabad, he stated “It has struck us very hard and our institutions are under immense pressure due to Coronavirus.”
The cabinet committee on coronavirus in Punjab has prohibited outdoor dining and public transport in several cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
A ban has also been placed on wedding ceremonies, both outdoor and indoor, and public gatherings in these areas. Entertaining spots and parks have been closed as well.
Orange and Greenline Metro buses and trains have been restricted. However, shopping malls and markets will be permitted to open till 6 pm in these areas.
