Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa Visits SSG Headquarters on Wednesday. His visit just a day after the decision of death sentence of former COAS Musharraf is a gesture to show support to Musharraf who served the SSG for 7 years 1966 to1972.
Addressing the elite forces he said:
SSG is our pride with myriad contributions towards defence of [the] country through its valiant officers and soldiers since the creation of Pakistan
He appreciated the services of elite forces saying our defence forces have always made sacrifices for the country. More so, he said that peace within the country is maintained because of the efforts of defence forces. He vowed not to let external forces affect the stability of the country at any cost.
Previously, in a reaction to the verdict of General (R) Musharraf treason case ISPR issued a statement supporting the former COAS and took it to social media.
It is to be noted that, the special court awarded death sentence to former president Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case on Tuesday. A three-member bench of the special court, headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth announced its reserved verdict.
