IVF Treatments To Be Made Available In Lahore, Free Of Cost.

In-Vitro fertilization, also known as the IVF method, is a process that helps couples facing difficulties with pregnancies, by planting a test-tube embryo in the mother’s womb. The reproductive cells of both the parents are combined after which the embryo is placed in a glass jar till the point it is ready to be planted in the mother’s womb. The IVF method has been a blessing for many hopeless couples, who have been keen on having a baby but due to different physical challenges, fail to conceive a child.

Earlier, there was a question on its validity within the boundaries of Islam, due to which there was a lot of speculation until 2017 when the Federal Shariat Court announced that it was completely lawful.

Pakistan’s private hospitals have had this treatment available, but of course at a cost that couples from the middle and lower-middle-class cannot afford. Dr. Yasmin Rashid announced, that this service is expected to be made available free of cost at Lahore’s Mother and Child Hospital in June by PM Imran Khan.

The usual cost of this treatment is Rs 200,000 to Rs 450,000 which is of course out of the reach of an individual that is struggling to make ends meet.
