Govt Seeks $142m Loan For Infrastructure Development In KPK
The government is aiming to get a $142 loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for five cities of KPK.
The government is aiming to get a $142 loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for five cities of KPK. The loan would be used to improve sanitation, safe water access, waste management, and green spaces in the cities of KPK.
The provincial government will develop core urban infrastructures of Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Abbottabad, and Mingora under the ‘KPK Cities Improvement Project’ (KPCIP).
They plan to achieve this by expanding and improving urban infrastructure and public spaces and also by strengthening the institution of urban development, the city government, and the provincial government.
The Asian development is going to be the lead co financer of this proposed project.
This project can have helpful environmental benefits as it will reduce pollution and soil and water contamination.

The project involves the construction of new sanitary landfills, shutting down current dumpsites, and building sewage treatment plants which will highly improve the condition of the cities and the adverse environmental impact can be minimized.
Furthermore, the engineering designs adopted are based on viable climate protective measures and a list of climate change resilience in its innovation.
