The Punjab government-imposed ban on the temporary animal markets across the country. Following the ban, the government has given a go-ahead to set up online sacrificial animals’ markets. The decision is taken to maintain social distancing in order to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Moreover, the government also considers to put a ban on home slaughters by butchers.
“The government is afraid that butchers, who generally don’t take care of their health, especially in context with Coronavirus due to lack of awareness, may become a source of infecting others.
“The government wants them (butchers) do this work at designated spots (parks, grounds) under Covid-19 SOPs and precautionary measures,” informs the official.
However, a final decision will be taken on July 2nd.
