Prime Minister Imran Khan instructed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United States and Iran to convey the message clearly that Pakistan is not going to be a part of any war but will choose to play a significant role in peacemaking.
He also instructed Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to contact military officials of Iran, KSA, and the USA to convey the same message. Minister announced this news in a tweet.
The Prime Minister announced this news in a tweet saying, ” I have asked FM Qureshi to visit Iran, KSA & USA to meet with respective foreign ministers, Secretary of State; & COAS Gen Bajwa to contact relevant military leaders to convey a clear message: Pakistan is ready to play its role for peace but it can never again be part of any war.”
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be visiting capitals of all the relevant countries which include Tehran, Riyadh, and Washington. These areas are risky right now to travel, therefore, measures are being taken for his travel. This visit can lead to many other visits. Shah Mehmood Qureshi is also going to meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during his stay in the USA.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS, has made it clear to US Secretary of Defence that Pakistan wants de-escalation from the current situation but is happy to play a role in peacemaking. “We would like the situation to de-escalate and shall support all initiatives which bring peace in the region,” the COAS said.
Mark Esper also declared that they did not want any conflict but will give a serious response if necessary. In a meeting, Prime Minister recalled the efforts of the country in making peace.
