7 Billion Collected by FBR in The Registration Process of Cell Phones.

It was revealed in the Senate committee that 7 billion rupees have been collected by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the form of taxes for registration of cell phones in the last eight months. 67500 phones have been blocked after not being registered in the given time period. The measures taken by the committee were appreciated by Senator Farooq Naek.

The new technology DIRBS (Device Identification Registration and Blocking System)has lowered down the phone smuggling rates. If a smuggler manages to bring the phone in a country, it will not work once you insert the SIM. This will not be applied to foreigners but after 60 days, they will also have to pay taxes.

It was pointed out that DEBRIS has been successful in discouraging the smuggling of phones since many people were used to bringing ten to twenty phones from abroad to the country. Locals of the country will pay fewer taxes.

More so, another digital initiative was shared in the meeting. An application by the name of TAX Asaan app was introduced. This application allows the income tax return filing form home.
