Harvey Weinstein, the popular producer accused of harassing dozen of women is finally reaching a tentative settlement of $25 million. More than 70 women have accused him of sexual misconduct. This has led to a bankrupt film studio.
The agreement will bring an end to all the civil lawsuits by actresses and Weinstein employees. These lawsuits charges included sexual misconducts from harassment to rape.
The payout will be funded by the insurers of the Weinstein Co studio. However, Weinstein will not pay anything as reported by The New York Times.
Weinstein representatives have so far declined to comment.
Thee accusers will make the tentative accord in the bankruptcy court. $25million payout will be a part of a $47 million settlement to shut down studio’s compulsion.
If Weinstein is found guilty, he will be facing life prison. A trial has been scheduled for the case on January 6, 2020.
Weinstein entered the courtroom with a walker. He is said to have back surgery on Thursday.
