Pakistan observes the police martyr day today to pay tribute to police personnel who have sacrificed their lives in the attempt to provide security and stability to the country.
Compensation packages have been announced for the families and especially children for completion of education. The Martyr Day is being observed for the fifth consecutive year on August 4 every year. It is the same day when Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, the commandant of Frontier Constabulary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police was martyred in a suicide attack.
Provincial headquarters are conducting special events at a district level to highlight the services.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada in Lahore, laid floral wreath and offered Fatiha.
