As the people in Pakistan return to their native places to celebrate the Holy Occasion, the decision was taken to facilitate people. The first train will run from Lahore to Karachi on May 7 while the two other special trains are scheduled to run from Lahore to Karachi on May 9 and May 11 respectively.
Special trains will also run from Karachi to Multan and Rawalpindi on May 11 and 12.
On the other hand, the ‘Jinnah Express’ has been suspended by the department. The passengers of this train will be adjusted to the ‘Karakoram Express’. The other trains including ‘Karachi Express’, ‘Pak Business Express’, and ‘Green Line’ have been reported to be suspended as well.
As per the railway authorities, the passengers who bought tickets for the cancelled trains have been updated and will be adjusted in other trains.
Last month, new SOPs for passengers travelling via train is issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) after coronavirus cases surge in the city. The railway department has been directed to operate with a 70% capacity with the reservation offices updated to avoid making 100% bookings.
Passengers are not permitted to board the train without wearing a mask and while social distancing is also maintained between seats.
