Peugeot 308 wins- Critics Not Certain?

The title of ‘Best Car of the World 2022’ and the Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY) has been secured by Peugeot 308 after being selected by 56 female automotive journalists from 40 countries across five continents. The announcement came on Women’s Day, after the previous year, where Land Rover Defender had managed to secure the title.

Speaking of the evaluation procedure, like every year, the automotive journalists drove about 65 car entrants, in the first voting session where a list of winners was concluded which comprised of 6 cars that are as follows:

- Urban Model: Peugeot 308

- Familiy SUV: Kia Sportage

- Large Car: Ford Mustang Mach-E

- Large SUV: BMW iX

- Performance Car: Audi e-Tron GT

- Pure 4X4 & Pick Up: Jeep Wrangler 4xe4

Then in the final session, Peugeot was successful in securing the win. The reason, why Peugeot won the award, is because apparently, it’s a more affordable option with a 1.3-liter engine, which also plans on an introduction with electric options in 2023.

Critics, look at this decision as a hard one to swallow given that they feel there have been different loopholes that need to be addressed. They believe, that the criteria should have been a little well-structured since the standards seem very ambiguous.
