PIA Operating Loss Reduced by 75% in 6 Months.

Pakistan International Airlines reported a historical drop in the loss in the first six months of 2019. Operating loss decreased by 75%. The report states that, during the first 6 months (Jan-Jun) of the current financial year, the company loss reduced to 5 billion rupees. However, the figure of loss was 21 Billion rupees during the same period of 2018.

This significant decrease in losses is because of the current government’s efforts to make the company profitable. According to figures in the report, the company’s revenue recorded in the corresponding period of 2018 was Rs 65.72 billion. In comparison, the company earned Rs 94.73 billion in the current year.

According to the comparative report submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the total loss in Jan-Jun 19, was 38 billion rupees. Now, it is 32 billion rupees. Whereas, the revenue in Jan-Jun 2019 is 94 billion rupees. And, in the same period of the previous year, the company earned 65 billion rupees only. Whereas, a 29% increase in the company’s revenue is recorded.

Furthermore, PIA had inducted an Airbus-320 in its fleet on dry lease. Whereas, another airbus induction will be made on 6th December 2019.
