Queen Elizabeth refuses to be called an Oldie
Queen Elizabeth II is the British empire’s longest-reigning monarch but she refuses to be labeled by her age.
The 95 years old monarch has declined the title Oldie of the Year by British Magazine, saying that she does not “meet the relevant criteria”.
The Oldie magazine on Tuesday published queen’s response quoting the letter from her assistant private secretary,
“Her majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient”. The letter ended “with Her Majesty’s warmest best wishes”.
The Queen despite being widowed this year still manages to perform the important duties. On Tuesday she held audiences with diplomats and hosted a reception of Windsor Castle for global business leaders.

The Oldie of the Year prize is for honoring the people of advanced ages who have contributed to the betterment of the public’s life. The queen’s husband, Prince Phillip, who died in April received the privilege in 2011 when he was 90 years old.
After the queen’s refusal, the title is given to movie royalty Leslie Caron who is a 90 years old Fench American actress.
