The Supreme Court of Pakistan defends the decision of the Sindh Hight Court suggesting the release of Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik from his duties as CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of PIA. This suggestion was made by Safdar Anjum as he said that the CEO did not have the academic qualification to take a significant role.
Malik in a response filed a petition in the Supreme Court which was rejected by a three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, including Justice Ijazul Ahsen and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
The Sindh High Court where the petition was filed against Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik by Safdar Anjum restrained the CEO from performing his duties.

“We will not set aside the verdict of the Sindh high court, which had restrained Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik from functioning as the PIA CEO,” the CJ said.
This verdict was challenged by CEO Malik which was later defended by SC. SHC verdict has directed the Board of Governors to take the role of CEO and chairman of the PIA.
More so, the SC also questioned the contract of Rs700 million given to Pakistan Air Force officer. The company to which the project was awarded was registered 2 months back. It was also observed that the fares of the national flag carrier had increased by 100%. This contract was for In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) in eight Boeing 777 aircrafts.
