Us President Donald Trump Thanks PM Imran Khan for the release of Taliban Hostages

On Thursday 21^st Nov, 2019 United States President Donald Trump appreciated the efforts of Pakistan for the release of western hostages in Afghanistan earlier this week. President Trump also thanked PM Imran Khan in a telephonic conversation on Thursday, Prime minister media office said in a press release issued by the office.  

In the call with Trump both the Heads of states discussed bilateral regional issues. On the shared objective of Afghan peace both the leaders had same stance and agreed to remain in close contact.

The phone call was initiated after the release of American Kevin King and Australian Timothy Weeks by Afghan Taliban in exchange for the release of three Taliban commanders from Afghan prison as part of deal which will enhance the revival of peace process.

Press released stated, “The US president thanked the prime minister for Pakistan’s efforts in being the facilitator towards positive outcomes.” In response PM Khan shared that this release of western hostages was a positive initiative and Pakistan was happy about their freedom and safety.

Prime Minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance towards Afghan peace process.

Imran Khan also raised the point about situation in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed that Trump should continue his determination for the facilitation of peace process for Kashmiris as over 8 Million people are kept under siege for over 100 days.

Recalling their conversations both at PM visit to White house and UN General Assembly, they both agreed on staying in close contact to get the regional bilateral issues solved.
