The World celebrates International Anti Corruption Day on 9th December 2019. The aim to celebrate this day is to create awareness among the masses about the effects of corruption in society.
The world celebrates the day every year since the passage of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption on Oct. 31, 2003. The purpose is to raise awareness among the public about the ill-effects of corruption.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to launch the “Report Corruption Mobile App” which will enable users to report corruption to the authorities. The app will be launch in a ceremony today.
“Together, We Are United Against Corruption”
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the UNCAC and the theme of the day is together we are united against corruption. The global campaign focuses on corruption as one of the biggest obstacles to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Furthermore, Pakistan has always played an important role in the fights against corruption and there is a number of organizations working against corruption. These organizations in Pakistan working for the elimination of corruption, including the National Accountability Bureau and the Anti-Corruption Establishment. More so, special programs, seminars, and walks will be carried out to appraise the public about how best to weed out the scourge of corruption from society.

In a Statement, UNODC Executive Director on International Anti-Corruption Day said:
The Secretary-general invited all the governments across the world to take part in the global campaign and make world corruption-free. “On this International Day, I urge people everywhere to continue to work on innovative solutions to win the battle against corruption and to ensure that precious resources serve the peoples of the world.”
