Pakistani Authors Kamila Shamsie and Mohsin Hamid listed in BBC’s “100 Novels that Shaped Our World” List.

It is a matter of immense honor for Pakistan that two Pakistani Authors Kamila Shamsie and Mohsin Hamid have made it to BBC’s list of 100 Novels that Shaped our World. Among many other renowned authors from around the world their name is also present.

Kamila Shamsie is a British Pakistani, brought up in Karachi and known for her award winning Novel Home Fire. In 2018, her novel Home Fire won the award of “Women’s Prize for Fiction” and now again the same novel took her to BBC’s list of 100 novels that shaped our world. Her first novel In The City by the Sea was published in 1998 at the age of 25 years. At that time she was still completing her education.

This novel is listed under the category of “Politics, Power and Protest”. It is her last novel and was published in year 2017.

Other name in the list is Mohsin Hamid. Under the genre of “Crime and Conflict” his novel “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” is listed besides other well known authors from around the world. He already has the honor of winning number of awards nationally as well as globally. Mohsin Hamid was born in Lahore Pakistan and has spent a small span of his childhood in United States. His first Novel “Moth Smoke” was published in year 2000, and bagged the honor of becoming “Notable Book of the Year” in The New York Times.

The novel “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” was published in 2007 and proved to be a blockbuster publish and New York Time marked it Notable Book of the Year 2007, other then that this book won number of awards and honors including Ambassador Book Award in Year 2008.
