Regional Tax Office in Sindh, a subordinate of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) gave notices to 17 hospitals in Karachi. This notice demands data of doctors to investigate those who have been assets and their incomes which they have not revealed.
Regional Tax Office of the province has asked the administration of the hospital to give the basic information which includes age, NIC copies, name. contact information, bank account details, and the record of trips made abroad.
The imitative was taken by FBR when they received news of doctors working at private clinics and covering up their incomes.
FBR official clearly informed that measures will not only be taken against doctors employed at private clinics but also those who have private clinics.
The hospitals failing to share the details with FBR will be punished under section 182 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 191 of the Income Tax Ordinance. Two health facilities have already faced the consequences.
