First Virtual Zoo To Be Opened In Capital!
details of the virtual zoo on the agenda.
The turning of Margalla zoo, Islamabad, which is now closed due to several reasons into a virtual zoo is quite a great approach towards awareness. The capital development authority (CDA) and Islamabad wildlife board (IWMB).
Rina Saeed khan chairperson of IWMP said that:
“We cannot put animals on display, there will be a digital display of animals so that our children could know of them”
Margalla zoo was closed down in May 2020 and animals were shifted to sanctuaries. The authority’s idea about reviving the place into a virtual zoo was decided, and it was made clear that two-thirds of the land would be used for entertainment purposes related to wildlife, the rest of the area would be used for rescue and rehabilitation of animals.
Six weeks’ date is set for construction purposes and the idea of turning it into a virtual zoo seems quite innovative and something that would actually get the task done with no harm to the innocent animals.

Zoos are now considered abusive towards the animals, to say the least. This is also true because the animals and birds are simply being carried away to places, they aren’t used to, or artificial habitats which in itself is very cruel. Moreover, the way these animals are treated in zoos especially here in Pakistan is terrible. We have seen children, in fact, mature individuals, throwing things at them with also feeding them when they have been advised to not do so. Apart from this, Pakistan does not have enough resources to take care of zoos, or even if it did, they were not being used up in the way they should have been.
So, we are certain, that this one initiative is crucial and we are beyond thrilled to have it on board.
