Good Transporters Facing Issues In Delivering The Essentials To Nation 2024

The provincial government of Pakistan has relaxed the transportation restriction so that goods can be delivered to citizens. However, many truckers are still facing the issue.

Good transportation declined by 80% due to lockdown activities in the country. Hostelling and workshop services still remain unavailable for the truckers. This has led to stirring up of complaints who are demanding the basic workshop necessities on the highway.

A further delay is to be expected as Karachi Goods Carrier (KCG) President Rana Muhammad Aslam revealed that the unavailability of food and workshops on the highway might squeeze the transportation activity. He said, ” Drivers are complaining of not having food and workshop facilities on highways.”

He also threw light on the decrease in fares by 30%.  “Fare has dropped to Rs100,000 from Rs130,000-Rs140,000 from other provinces to Karachi,” he said. “In order to encourage transporters, the government should ensure all facilities on highways for drivers.”

More so, he reported that the police were charging bribes from the transporter while harassing them. Port to port transport in Karachi is suffering from police harassment, which is delaying deliveries,” he said.

He has requested the relevant departments to take the notice od the issue and take measures against those who are involved in the harassment.
