Green Line Bus Service inaugurated by PM Imran Khan in Karachi
Green Line Bus Service was inaugurated today with 80 buses for 300,000 passengers daily.
On Friday, PM Imran Khan formally inaugurated Green Line Bus Service in Karachi. Public’s hope of getting smooth local transport finally becoming true.
The ceremony took place in the presence of senior officials, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, and federal Planning Minister Asad Umar. PM visited the bus station himself and was shown the ticketing system by the officials.
Work on the 16.85 billion PKR bus project funded by the federal government was started by former PM Nawaz Sharif back in 2016.
The project was later extended by another 10 kilometers by the Sindh government and the budget rose to 24 billion PKR.

The project was first expected to complete by the end of 2017. Since the launch of the scheme, the battered roads on either side of the route have turned into a great source of nuisance for commuters and for the shopkeepers doing their businesses.
The second and final consignment of 40 buses for the project arrived in the city on October 21st, raising the number of buses to 80 in total. The Green Line Bus Service is expected to facilitate 300,000 passengers daily.
The first batch of buses arrived on September 19th which the planning minister referred to as “a ray of hope” and “milestone”, calling it the beginning of modern public transport for the people of Karachi after a gap of 40 years.
