Residents of Kashmir are using VPNs to access Social media Apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. These apps are blocked since the lockdown by the Indian government has been implemented. Therefore the residents of the occupied Kashmir were using VPNs or proxies to access the restricted apps.
According to Indian authorities, many residents are trying to propagate a false agenda in the region through these apps. This is the reason why VPNs are also blocked in the area.
Tahir Ashraf, the cyber police chief said, “We have identified 100 social media users and are in the process of identifying more users for misuse of social media, for disseminating fake and false secessionist, anti-India propaganda.”
People are still retaliating and continue to shift to the unblocked VPNs.
