NCOC Directs The Reopening Of Primary Schools
Primary schools are to reopen from Wednesday. Sindh government did not agree last week on the reopening of schools in the second phase.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to reopen the primary school for students on Wednesday.
The Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood made the unexpected announcement while addressing the media in Islamabad. The decision has been made in consultation with all the provincial governments including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
He reported that 171,436 coronavirus tests were conducted in educational institutions to check the status of the virus spread in the educational institutions. However, only 1,248 tests were positive which means only 1% are affected by a coronavirus.
"Keeping in view this data, it has been decided to resume primary level classes," Shafqat Mehmood told reporters.
According to the education minister, strict actions will be taken against those not following the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
