Noor Mukadam - A Sigh Of Relief Or Disbelief In The Judiciary

the awaited and yet-to-come verdict of the Noor Mukadam case.

Noor Mukadam - A Sigh Of Relief Or Disbelief In The Judiciary

Noor Mukadam, daughter of Shaukat Mukadam, former ambassador serving Pakistan, was brutally murdered and beheaded on the 20th of July 2021, just before Eid Ul Fitr and within the limits of Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station F-7. More than 6 months have passed, with the verdict being reserved over and over again, and countless times.

The accused, and the prime suspect Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer, has presented different arguments in the court with massive shifts, ultimately trying to prove that Zahir isn’t mentally stable- intending to completely release him of any liability. Shah Khawar, Noor Mukaddam’s lawyer on the other hand argues, that by providing pieces of evidence, be it in the form of videography content, post mortem reports, forensic reports, the DNA reports to even finding Zahir on spot with blood splatters on him, they have successfully proved their claim. Needless to say, Zahir Jaffer had himself admitted to murdering Noor Mukaddam during the initial trials, outside the court, as the police were seen dragging him out, therefore, forming another strong piece of evidence, proving that this case does not require any more investigation or trials, according to Shah Khawar.

The family is seen rushing here and there to get justice for their daughter and wishes to see the courts grant severe punishment orders for Zahir Jaffer. The verdict is set to be announced on the 24th of February 2022, by Judge Ata Rabbani which will either be a restoration of faith in our judiciary or utmost disbelief for the public, as they don’t have the courage to see another girl losing herself to such brutality barbarism. Women of the nation, are waiting to finally decide if this country that they love and own, provides them that safe space they are deserving of. It has been excruciating and truly heartbreaking to see the family’s composed selves, longing for justice. The community asks for justice and hopes that the courts will make sure Noor’s suffering doesn’t go in vain.
