Pakistan has passed a crucial milestone by achieving Climate Action Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-13) 10 years before the actual deadline according to the UN. The deadline for this goal was in 2030.
The UN-led 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all the UN-member countries in September 2015 to achieve a more sustainable future for all.
There were a number of global challenges that were supposed to be addressed through this goal which include poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, health, education, water, sanitation, food security, peace, and justice.

Amin Aslam, Advisor to PM on Climate Change called this achievement a milestone.
“With achieving the Climate Action SDG 13, Pakistan has demonstrated itself a country seriously committed to global efforts aimed to tackle the challenge of climate change,” he maintained.
He also revealed the tactics through which this milestone was passed. Adoption and implementation of different low carbon growth trajectory, mitigation, and adaptation initiatives, all helped in achieving the UN’s Climate 10 years before the SDG expiry.
