Aidrus has spent more than half of her life abroad and has headed back to Pakistan after 20 years. She has revealed her plan of how the country digital transformation is going to work at the inauguration of Digital Pakistan yesterday.
Tania has highlighted five areas which she called ‘building blocks’ necessary for in her address at the inauguration. The first pillar focussed on the enhancement of connectivity and access. She said, ” “A soldier posted in Siachen gets one opportunity a week to speak to his family members. I want to ensure that whenever he connects to his family via a video call, he is able to do so without any issues.”
The second key area according to Tania is the digital infrastructure. She said, ” Just like you need the road infrastructure in a country, Pakistan needs a digital infrastructure.”She added, “To advance in the tech world, we need to have a digital infrastructure pace.”
The third pillar is the E-Governance. She highlighted that E-governance is going to help in maintaining the transparency of the government for which the present government has been elected. She said, “The best way to ensure transparency is to digitize government processes. Nowadays people have a tremendous amount of difficulty when it comes to land documentation and other processes. We need to digitize these.”
The fourth pillar involved the educational system. Students need Digital Training and Skill. According to Tania, the educational training given to students in Pakistani universities holds them back from participating in the global competition.
The last pillar was Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She said, ” We need to create an environment where entrepreneurship and innovation take place.” She added, “The government needs to make it easy for investors and entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan. We need to attract companies that are worth billions of dollars.”
