Afghan President Opposes Manzoor Pashteen Arrest.

Ashraf Ghani, Afghan President shows concerns over the arrest of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen. He took it to twitter saying that such ‘Peaceful Civilian Movements’ should be supported.

However, Pakistan does not endorse Afghan President’s views and strongly condemned the president’s statements saying Pakistan is an independent state and Afghanistan should not interfere in its internal affairs. PM’s special advisor Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan also took it to twitter

The Foreign Office of Pakistan slammed the Afghan president’s statement and labelled it as ‘unwarranted’. The press release from FO states:

“We have noted with serious concern the recent tweets by President Ashraf Ghani, which are a clear interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and hence, unwarranted. We believe that such statements are not helpful to the promotion of good neighborly relations between the two countries.”

Furthermore, the FO reminded Kabul that Islamabad seeks to “maintain close and cordial relations with Afghanistan” which are based “non-intervention and non-interference”.
