Asad Umer Announces The Launch Of National Gender Policy!
details of the framework.
Today, on International Women’s Day, the Pakistani government broke the news of launching a national gender policy framework, which was confirmed by Asad Umar’s tweet, the federal minister for planning and government, to provide a set of guidelines to uplift the women of the country.
He stated, that gender disparity in the country is at its peak in the country, and it’s high time the struggles of our women are talked about with solutions being discussed, consequently. He stated that the lives of men and women can not be measured on the same scale since the women of our society are undoubtedly facing exceedingly difficult situations, as compared to men, so it isn’t justified to put them on the same scale. This however didn’t mean that he doesn’t consider the struggles of the male members of the country, the point was to highlight the increasing difficulties faced by women, of literally every age group, every single day.

He also said that the ratio of women receiving an education is almost nothing compared to that of men in the country which is very worrying and has to be addressed. This issue, has been on the agenda but no contribution has been made by previous governments either; however, as per Asad Umer, he does plan on doing something in this regard within his capacity and also trying to incorporate it into the education policy at the earliest.
Speaking of hearing the news, it truly is a sigh of relief. After years of gender inequality, it feels great to be recognized and understood. This particularly will be remembered by the suffering women of the nation, since we have seen such concern missing on a governmental level; however, that’s changing now.
Here’s to hoping, with every 8th March that is to come, women have lesser problems to complain of, and more opportunities and that Pakistan becomes safer for its women, that love their nation with their whole hearts and souls.
