Aurat March 2020: a Brief Review

Aurat march took place in major cities of Pakistan. Women, men, and children took part in the Aurat the march. This march was to highlight the protection for the rights of women and other minorities.

It was instructed by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Media and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan to process with the march without objectionable slogans. She said that there was no place for such objectionable quotes anywhere in society.

However, the march did take place in Twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

Twin Cities: Islamabad and Rawalpindi

The participants in women gathered to highlight their rights in the society were attacked by a rival rally. However, the women did not stop and were true victors. An FIR (First Information Report ) will register to find out the source of the violence displayed.

Men and children other than women took part in the rally to mark the International Women’s Day.

Jamat-e-Islami

Earlier on Sunday, the women of Jamat-e-Islami also walked in a rally for highlighting the participation of the women in the society. However, they had a different stance which was that the women already have rights in society. Their apparel was something that stood out. It was a black burqas. They did call out legislations and authorities for giving women equal rights who make up half of the society.

Aurat March

Aurat march which was headed by Ismat Shahjahan in Islamabad. The charged-up crowd had a little incident outside the press club where they were attacked by stones by the religious rally. Aurat March slogans were heavily criticized by many based on moral values. Most have been called against Islam which propagates the clash. Both crowds lashed each other until the police separated them.

The Aurat march continued to proceed where different issues were highlighted. Minorities were discussed too where the conversion issue was highlighted. The Hindu girls were forcefully converted Muslims.

The violence in the march was noted by Shireen Mazari who reminded the world about Islamic teachings.

Lahore

The rally was humungous with 3000 men and women from different walks of life. The organizers have submitted five points guidelines to the Lahore High Court. It was the only rally with different dynamics. All the participants had different views. Songs and music were also a part of the rally. the security arrangements were very strict.

Karachi

Hundreds joined the Aurat March in Karachi and raised their voice to highlight the atrocities being conducted against women. Minorities were briefly discussed in the march. Many notable activists like Sadaf Abid, Nisha Khawaja, Qurat Mirza, and many more participated. Many criticized that the March did not represent the women of every class. Women from the elite class were the only ones participating.
