China Does Not Approve The Backlash Of America On CPEC

US diplomat, Alice Well who criticized many clauses of CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) got a serious response from China. Alice Well called the CPEC project a pack of lies.

She has already made negative comments on the project back in November  2019 and Pakistan and China have rejected these comments openly. The china responded saying, ” Although you can never wake up a person who is pretending to be asleep, we have to make our position clear and reject the negative propaganda by the US. We must not let the truth be distorted and the lies run wild.”

Wells said that the CPEC project lacks transparency and is doing nothing but increasing the debt of Pakistan which is increasing because of Chinese financing. She also highlighted that CPEC has involved companies that are on the blacklist of the World Bank.

China in reply said, ” We would be more than glad to see the US develop its relationship with Pakistan, but we strongly oppose the US interference in China-Pakistan relations and the CPEC.” China called the US blacklist this and that country to serve its own political purposes. It does not already about the global economy.

China also questioned the motives of the US saying, ” We also want to advise the US that when you accuse China, you should first look back what have you done to Pakistan, and think about how much contribution have you made for Pakistan. Did Ms. Wales bring any aid, investment or trade for Pakistan during her visit?”

The embassy highlighted the major achievements Pakistan has gained through CPEC. This included improvement in the transport infrastructure, power supply, massive job creation and contribution to GDP growth in Pakistan. This clearly shows that CPEC is helping Pakistan maintain social and economic progress.

Explaining about the debt, China explained that the debt story being presented by the  US is as usual fabricated. The total loan of CPEC is $5.8 billion which can be paid in 20-225 years with a 2% interest rate. More so, China has never been strict about repayment of debts. America’s mathematics is weak and intentions are shady.

“As the project has not yet been approved, the amounts of the project will be adjusted according to the actual condition and the needs of Pakistan. After finalizing the design of the project, we would initiate bidding in accordance with international practice. This is a completely normal business practice,” the embassy said.
