CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor), a project worth billions is not going to get affected because of the coronavirus as declared by Yao Jang, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan.
Though China is currently facing issues due to coronavirus, it still plans to move forward with Pakistan on CPEC. The ambassador gave this message very clearly in his latest address at the inaugural ceremony of the Energy Week organized by NEPRA.
He moved on to explaining the next steps to be taken in the project and how it will transform Pakistan’s economy.
He also acknowledged the efforts being made by Pakistan on a structural level. More so, the energy sector was going through major transformations for providing people with affordable and reliable energy. China will especially cooperate with Pakistan in this regard.
It was also discussed in the meeting that energy should be the first priority if both countries want CPEC to be successful.
The majority of the projects under phase 1 have been completed. Coronavirus is not going to stop the fast pacing growth of the project.
