Meta, known to be the parent company of Facebook, has been sued by a small-scale company called immersion. Meta has been allegedly accused of stealing Virtual Reality (VR) technology.

Immersion claimed that Meta had stolen their Virtual Reality headset design. Recently, Meta Quest 2 launched its latest headsets, and the headsets have haptic technology claimed to be stolen from Immersion.

On Thursday, May 26th, 2022, the complaint against Meta was filed in the federal court of Waco, Texas.

Haptic is a technology incorporated into video games that allow gamers with controllers to experience actual vibrations in the game when they get hit by their rivals. Meta has decided to use this technology in Metaverse gaming.

Immersion Corporation is an American-based company that works on touch feedback technology. Suppose they are successful in proving the infringing technology case in court. In that case, Meta will have to pay unspecified damages in court and drop the use of haptic technology in their controllers.

In the past years, Immersion Technology has successfully won the licensing disputes against various companies, which means they are well aware of the art of winning such cases.

There have been no updates on this case as far as the court is concerned.
