Engineers have developed a little Handheld Inhaler-like device to facilitate people breathe properly in an anxiety attack.
Created by Dendro Technologies (New York), the device resembles an asthma Handheld Inhaler but in this case, it is attached with battery-powered hardware that is adjusted to implement regular breathing patterns in an individual.
The user has to breathe into the device and continue breathing till the device displays a succession of green lights.
The person who suffers from an anxiety attack is instructed to breathe in from the nose and take the breath out of the mouth. The passage of air from the mouth is detected by the sensor that indicates the correct speed for breathing and lightens the three LEDs on top.
In New York, 35 patients were treated with the device with panic disorders.
This little handy device has been tested by them in a trial at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York).

Researchers stated in a statement, “Limited number of options are available to manage anxiety and panic attack symptoms. We assume that it will prove to be a drug-free, early intervention, and long-term treatment solution that will help in improving patients’ anxiety and panic attack symptoms.”
