The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has estimated that Pakistan’seconomy is most likely to recover in the financial year 2021.
This has been revaeled in the newly published report compiled by IMF titled “Policy Actions Taken by Countries”.
The report has acknowledged the efforts taken by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government to halt the spread of coronavirus.
In mid-April, the provincial government eased the lockdown to permit the low-risk industries to resume operations. However, strict SOPs had to be followed.
Restrictions on flights from and to the country were also lifted. These flights included domestic and international flight operations.
The report also noted the relief package which was worth Rs 1.2trillion announcd by the federal government on March 24. This package is still being implemented and will continue this year and next year.

The report noted every key measure the government has taken so far which includes the elimination of import duties on emergency health equipment, cash transfers to daily wage workers and low-income families, financial support to SMEs and the agricultural sector.
