SECP Launches New Startup Portal For New Innovators

New technology innovation has been encouraged by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan with the launch of an exclusive startup portal.

Shauzeb Ali, SECP Information System, and Technology Commission inaugurated the “Startup Grind Pakistan” conference in Islamabad.

This portal has a list of startups with easy to register options and access to counselors or mentors and incubation centers, digital guides and detailed video guides for startup companies.

This startup portal was identified as the “gateway to information and collaboration hub, for the facilitation and uplifting of the existing and future entrepreneurs to connect and excel” by Ali. He also added that this portal might evolve with time and will play a significant role in the “startup ecosystem” in Pakistan.

The conference was attended by many entrepreneurs, innovators, and technologists. SECP is striving hard to promote an environment in Pakistan where more local and international innovators invest their time and energy.

More so, the Company Act is also being reviewed in order to facilitate startups and give a catering environment to help young innovators and entrepreneurs. These facilities include ” amendments in Private Equity and Venture Capital Regulations, draft Equity Crowdfunding Regulations, setting up facilitation desks at CROs and launching of first-ever Regulatory Sandbox in Pakistan”.

Pakistan is the26th biggest consumer market in the world and the number of startups actually reflects it. Food delivery, e-commerce, ride services are commonly used in the country and there are many international organizations such as Careem taking interest in the country.
