Smog Takes Over Lahore Shutting Down Daily Activities

Smog hits Lahore on Wednesday once again to a point where all the activities were shut down. The residents had to stay indoors as much as possible.

Lahore’s Air Quality Index was recorded as high as 350 in the morning and as low as 170. This range takes Air Quality to a hazardous level.

WWF, a non-government organization, a spokesman told APP that smog is causing many respiratory diseases among the citizens other than blocking the daily routine activities. The baking of 1000 bricks can make two kilometers toxic with smoke.

He suggested that zig-zag technology can help in reducing pollution by 40%.

Many brick-kilns have been sealed by the Environment Protection Department (EPD). More so, many awareness campaigns are being conducted by the EPD.

Brick kilns have been one of the key reasons for smog other than brick kilns, burning of stubs of crops, factory emissions, smoke emitting vehicles, are some of the main factors.
