The Peace Deal Between Taliban and US Proves Pakistan Was Innocent This Whole Time

The unexpected peace talk between the US and Taliban scheduled on February 29 has proved that Pakistani stance from the beginning on the issue was vindicated. Pakistan not taking a stand against the Taliban and Haqqani because national security is being appreciated by a number of experts.

Rahimullah Yusufzai, a senior journalist and expert on Taliban affairs said, ” Pakistan’s stance has proved correct. The deal has also endorsed Pakistan’s Afghan policy. Pakistan stands vindicated today.”

“It is impossible to eliminate the Taliban and the Haqqanis and that is why the path of negotiations has been chosen,” he further added.

In the past, the US has pressurized Pakistan to do something against the Taliban especially Haqqani group but Pakistan has resisted since the country though that their actions will trouble the security of the country.

This was a long-awaited deal for the world since it will pave many peaceful opportunities for both countries. While commenting on the situation, Yusufzai said, “It is unbelievable. Despite all reservations, both sides are moving ahead step-by-step as it is an election year in the US and the US is in a hurry to pull its troops from Afghanistan.”

Donald Trump has acknowledged the peace efforts made by Pakistan a number of times publicly. However, he warned that Pakistan should be careful since there was a possibility that it can be blamed for interfering in Afghanistan’s foreign policy.
