Unrecovered Credit Of 4.280 Million: PIA Under Watch Radar Again

PIA was asked to give a detailed briefing to the Public Accounts Committee yesterday in order to strengthen inner management focussing on the financial matters of the Aviation Division.

Member National Assembly (MNA) Hina Rabbani Khar, was reviewing the audit report of the public sector (2012-2013). The report was the need of the hour since the work and efforts made for improving the Aviation Division were all going to be useless.

The committee was informed about the non-recovery of credit sales from the Speedex account holder by Pakistan International Airlines. This information was revealed by audit officials who further added that Speedix did not ensure the recovery of the credit amount of Rs 14.5 million. However, they also told the committee than Rs 10.25 million have been recovered and Rs 4.280 million are to be recovered

They further requested the committee to handle the matter of not recovered Rs 4.280 million as per law.

The committee has ordered the PIA management to provide verified documents and establish proof for which the records are not available.

A strict notice has been issued to PIA management to keep the proper record of financial transactions.

More so, it has been advised to install an IT-based control system rather than manual record-keeping to avoid any future blunders.
