Coronavirus Progress: Punjab Can Now Conduct 3100 COVID-19 Tests Daily

Usman Bzdar revealed that Punjab can test 3100 individuals for COVID-19 on a daily basis. This limit will exceed 5000 in the next few days. This was revealed in a video link meeting.

He said, ” Around 19,000 diagnostic kits are available in the province and 2,000 more will be received from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) by Wednesday (today).”

1785 people have already been tested on Monday. More testing laboratories are being established in Lahore and other districts of Punjab. He also directed the relevant authorities to make at least 8 labs functional.

More so, in the attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he has ordered enforcement of Section 144 in Punjab. He said, ” Violation of government orders will not be tolerated as these steps are being taken to protect the lives of citizens,”

Special instructions have been given to police on the pillion riding ban. While commenting on suspicious cases he said, ” The health authorities should complete the procurement of necessary equipment as soon as possible. All patients in the quarantine facilities or isolation wards will be tested again after 14 days and those testing negative [for COVID-19] will be allowed to go home.”

A special ward has been established for pregnant women diagnosed with Coronavirus in Lahore and other district hospitals. All the patients are to be provided with all essentials in quarantine.

He also mentioned that many people are being affected by economic restrictions. He said, “The Punjab government is standing with the affected people and the poor will not be left alone. The government employees have set a high example and every penny [of the donation] will be spent on the welfare of the deserving people. I am monitoring the relief activities and there would be no delay in this regard.”
