Mrs. World 2020 winner Caroline Jurie has been taken into custody for on-stage brawling with Mrs. Sri Lanka winner, Pushpika de Silva.
"We have arrested Jurie and (her associate) Chula Manamendra regarding a charge of attack and causing damage to Nelum Pokuna (theatre)," senior police official Ajith Rohana stated.
The Mrs. Sri Lanka winner told reporters that she was ready to give up if Jurie made an excuse publicly, but she had refused.
"I tried to resolve this matter out of court, but she has refused. Although I can forgive, but cannot forget," she stated.
As de Silva was being crowned as ‘Miss Sri Lanka 2021’ on-air, Jurie had come over to snatch the headpiece aggressively, resulting in her head injuries.
The ruling Mrs. World champion suspects de Silva of being a divorced woman which was against pageant rules.
"There is a policy that obstructs women who have already been married and are divorced, so I am taking measures to make the crown go to second place," Jurie informed the audience.
