Ministry of Finance of Pakistan has released a special Rs 10 billion for utility stores in an attempt to protect needy from the inflation effects of the current situation.
Omar Lodhi, USC Managing Director has revealed that Rs 50 billion have been allocated. However, for now, 10 billion have been released. He also highlighted that since the difference in prices in the open market and utility stores is huge, there has been a drastic increase in the number of customers.
Because of the subsidy, the sugar was being sold at Rs. 80 in open market and Rs. 67 in utility store. So far, the sale recorsd has hit Rs 2.3 billion.
Lodhi further revealed that people with low-income groups and the saving class of Pakistan are satisfied with the quality of food.
These Rs 50 billion are just the first portion of the relief being released by the Prime Minister. A financial relief of 1.222 trillion has been announced so far.
